Academic Awareness in Nursing on the Rise: Strong Interest from Students
The “Academic Visibility and Scientific Publishing” panel, organized by the Balıkesir University Academic Development Coordination Office and held at the Faculty of Medicine, received strong participation, particularly from Nursing Department students as well as students from various other departments. During the panel, the active engagement of Nursing students—their questions and keen interest in scientific production—drew notable attention.
In his speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Okan Koç emphasized that academic visibility is not only a matter of individual achievement but also plays a crucial role in institutional development. He expressed his satisfaction with the interest shown by Nursing students and underlined that scientific production extends beyond publishing articles, gaining true value through accessibility, citation impact, and societal influence.
Another speaker, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Burak Çoban, highlighted the importance of systematic planning, mastery of the literature, and appropriate methodological use in producing a high-quality article.
Prof. Dr. Özkan Işık, on the other hand, offered solutions to common mistakes encountered during the academic writing process and provided practical advice to young researchers, including Nursing students.
The event proved to be highly productive in terms of improving the quality of scientific publications, strengthening international academic visibility, and encouraging more active participation of Nursing students in academic processes. The program concluded with a Q&A session where participants had the opportunity to ask their questions.
